On 19th August 2018, The world will celebrate ‘World Humanitarian Day 2018′. Every year World Humanitarian Day is celebrated to raise awareness regarding the hardship of civilians around the globe,who are unfortunately subjected to conflicts/war situations. This International Day also commemorates the fallen humanitarian workers who relentlessly laid there lives to bring peace and relief to the affected.
As of 2018 over 131 million people around the globe are facing an active crisis, may it war or a natural disaster. these 131 million affectees are in dire need of humanitarian aid.
The United Nations General Assembly established World Humanitarian Day in 2008(Ten Years Ago) and observed its first official celebration on 19th of August 2009. The date was picked by UN General Assembly to commemorate theanniversary of the 2003 the Canal Hotel bombings in Baghdad. This devastating incident took the lives of 20 people including the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Sergio Vieira de Mellothe.

The World Humanitarian Day is celebrated with a new theme every year. In 2017 the theme for World Humanitarian Day was ‘Not A Target’ emphasizing on the facts that innocent civilians stuck in war zones should not be targeted.
This International Event is honored and observed by organisations worldwide . Fundraisers, lectures and other events are held throughout the globe on 19th August to Raise awareness and to commemorate the fallen day in a range of ways from fundraisers to lectures and other events all aimed at raising awareness.
