On Thursday, Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, said that in an event of nuclear war Russians will “go to heaven” because Moscow’s policy on using nuclear weapons is only under retaliation.
During his talks on a forum with international experts in Southern City of Sochi, he responded to a question from the audience by saying, “We have no concept of preemptive strike,” that “In such a situation, we expect to be struck by nuclear weapons, but we will not use them first.”
He added, “The aggressor will have to understand that retaliation is inevitable, that it will be destroyed and that we, as victims of aggression, as martyrs, will go to heaven,” and “They will simply die because they won’t even have time to repent,” Putin said, with some laughter coming from the audience.
With last year, Putin revealing new “invincible” arsenal which will render the Western missile defense systems as outdated. Since in 2016, Putin made the effort of reinforcing its military nuclear potential.
