Zlatan Ibrahimovic is delighted by the Ballon d’Or win of Luka Modric

February 15, 2019 by Sourav Das

The Swedish football legend declares Luka Modric as the most ‘complete’ footballer in the Real Madrid squad. Besides, Zlatan Ibrahimovic is delighted that the Croatian star has achieved several individual honors this year including the prestigious Ballon d’Or. He also thinks that by doing this, Modric broke the monopoly of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

Luka Modric’s former Real Madrid teammate Cristiano Ronaldo stole the entire limelight during the last few seasons. But, the Croatian star proved his worth in the third consecutive UEFA Champions League victory of Los Blancos. Besides, he also played a pivotal role in Croatia’s unbelievable run in the FIFA World Cup last year.

And since the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo from the Spanish club, Luka Modric took the main responsibility to maintain the glory of Real Madrid.

While talking about the Croatian forward and his footballing talent, Zlatan Ibrahimovic told DAZN, “I think [Modric] is one of the most complete midfielders in the world,” and then further added “He has fantastic pace, he has a vision for the game that is amazing. The ball handling is amazing.”

He also recalled the time he played alongside Luka Modric and said, “I played against him at an early age, when he was a young player. Now he is an experienced player and I’m happy that he won the Ballon d’Or, the FIFA best player at the World Cup, all these things, because it’s not often that a player like that gets that credit.”

Zlatan Ibrahimovic said “Normally it’s a striker or somebody that has been ‘wow’. But this year, let’s say last year, was his year. I’m happy that he won.” The forward then further added “Me and my mother being from Croatia, he’s Croatian, so I’m happy. It’s part of the blood.”
