Sergio Busquets believes Barcelona will face difficulty to win La Liga this season

July 1, 2020 by Sourav Das

Barcelona ended their La Liga match against Atletico Madrid in a 2-2 draw last night. However, that created an immense pressure on the Catalan side to maintain their top place in the Spanish league. And on the other hand, this draw assured an upper hand in the league to their arch-rivals, Real Madrid.

Argentinean talisman Lionel Messi scored his 700th career goal last night against Atletico Madrid but failed to secure the victory for his team. And now, his teammate and Barcelona veteran Sergio Busquets believes their team will face a bit difficult to win the Spanish league this season. He also discussed the current stand of his team in La Liga.

While talking about Barcelona and their current position in the Spanish league, Spanish international Sergio Busquets recently said to the Movistar, “Look, to fight for the title is really complicated if you’re dropping two points each two games, but we’re going to keep fighting until the end.”

He said, “We know it’s difficult but we’re going to try. They’re a difficult rival. We dominated and created chances but the two penalties, penalized us – it’s been a real shame.” He then also added, “We were leaders and in a perfect situation before the break. I think it’s been difficult for us since – some matches we’ve played better, others we haven’t.”

The Barcelona star said, “Dropping points today and at the weekend means we’re a little bit further away from our goal, which is to retain the title. I think we played better today but it’s a difficult task ahead of us.” Yannick Carrasco, on the other hand, said, “We always want to win, but I think the team played well. It’s just unfortunate we couldn’t get the three points.”

He said, “We have to keep working and think about the next game. We were playing against one of the best teams in the world. A point away from home is always positive but we wanted to win.” The star then added, “It’s the attitude which is the most important facet of this team always. After that, we can win or lose, but if the attitude is the correct one then the coach is happy. Today wasn’t to be but we can be proud of our performance.”
