While talking about their recent winless streaks since last week, Barcelona forward Luis Suarez said “There was a lack of communication in the first half,” and then added “That’s something we have to improve. We lost balls, we didn’t speak. We have to ask for the ball more. It’s the little details [that count].”

He said, “We’re on the back of a run of a lot of matches and maybe that was a plus for [Athletic].” While praising their opponent, the Uruguayan star then further added “They were better rested for the game. But we created chances. Both teams had chances. I don’t know if a draw is fair. Both teams did enough to win.”

Barcelona goalkeeper Marc Andre ter Stegen also gave his views on that issue and said “Maybe there’s an element of tiredness because of the schedule,” and added “February’s a loaded month. I think everyone’s happy that we can now rest for one or two days.” He then said, “After that little break, we can come back and look at what went wrong and where we need to improve.”

Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde, on the other hand, gave updates about Lionel Messi’s injury and said “Messi is fine and he has played at 100 per cent.” The coach added “He has had some difficulties, because we had them as a collective, but when he plays it is because is absolutely convinced everything is fine.”
