September 3, 2018 by Rana Hamza

Names of three finalists for FIFA’s Best Men’s Player of the Year award are out and the most news coming in is Lionel Mess misses out for the first time since 2006. Talking about the finalists in the run for this award, they are the similar faces, who were in the contest of UEFA’s Best Player Award this year.  The top goal score of UEFA Champions League last season Cristiano Ronaldo will be in the run for FIFA’s best Men’s Player Award along with the World Cup runner-up Luka Modric and the runner-up of the UEFA Champions League, Mohamed Salah.

The thing which would be really heart-breaking for the Barca fans, especially the Messi fans is the Argentinean star failing to make it to the finals of this year’s prestigious FIFA award. Messi, who had been consistent to the FIFA Awards for 12-years in a row, misses out for the first time since 2006. Contrary to that, his on-field rival plus the counterpart, Ronaldo last missed out back in 2010 from the shortlisted finals for FIFA best player award.

Talking about the three finalists for this years’ FIFA Best player award, Ronaldo the top scorer at Champions League gets a bit extra prominence as well as he lifted this trophy as well. On the other hand, his mate during Real Madrid days, Modric makes it to the Final 3 with getting the Champions League winner tag and of course the runner-up at this years’ FIFA World Cup. Not to forget, the midfield genius at Real Madrid was also awarded the best player of the recently ended FIFA World Cup 2018. The Liverpool star Saleh is the first-time finalist for this years’ award with netting 44 goals all over and lifting his side to the Champions League finals as well.
