Chelsea overcame Tottenham for the second time in five days to extend their lead at the top of the Women’s Super League to four points.
Beth England continued her fine recent form by heading in the opener from Jonna Andersson’s cross.
Spurs levelled against the run of play through Kerys Harrop’s free header, but the Blues hit back immediately with Sam Kerr calmly restoring their lead.
Erin Cuthbert hit the post as the hosts missed chances to settle their nerves.
Emma Hayes’ side, who have played a game more than their title rivals Arsenal, will be certain of a third consecutive league title if they win their final two games.
- Chelsea v Tottenham as it happened
These two sides met on Sunday with Chelsea claiming a 3-1 victory despite playing much of the match with 10 players.
Against 11 away from home, Spurs put up another strong fight, and for a brief period in the second half caused numerous problems through Australia forward Kyah Simon.
But Chelsea’s quality shone through, and they crucially held firm to retain the advantage in the title race.
They will be overwhelming favourites against bottom side Birmingham City on Sunday, but do face a tricky home match against Champions League-chasing Manchester United on the final day.
The title could already be won by then if Spurs do Chelsea a favour and beat Arsenal next Wednesday.
Before that match Tottenham face Everton at Walton Hall Park on Sunday.
