July 13, 2020 by Sourav Das

Jose Maria Bartomeu recently expressed his regards to the Argentine legend Lionel Messi. He said that it is most likely that Lionel Messi will complete his footballing journey while playing in the Barcelona jersey. Messi, on the other hand, still has a single-season of contract left with the Catalan side.

The club is now in talks with the Barcelona talisman to renew his contract for the next term. And on the verge of this contract procedure, Barcelona president issues his statement about the Argentine star. However, many Spanish media also claimed that Lionel Messi is quite unhappy with the Barcelona president and several recent decisions of the club.

While talking about Lionel Messi, Barcelona president Jose Bartomeu said TV3, “We’ve spoken, we are speaking and we will continue to speak with Messi.” He then gave a deeper insight and further said, “He wants to finish his career here, we will definitely renew with him, I am in no doubt that he will stay here.”

Bartomeu also gave an inside view of the upcoming transfer target Lautaro and said, “The coming market will be very different. The big clubs will be limited by economic problems, but Barca is always a market-mover.” He added, “In Lautaro’s case the negotiation is halted right now. We spoke to Inter a few weeks ago. We are in an assessment phase.”

Luis Garcia, on the other hand, also expressed his views on Messi’s staying in Barcelona. He said, “Why not? The way he is playing, adapting his style to the game is impressive,” and then added, “Every year he shows us something different but keeps up the same amount of goals, of assists. Even getting more every year!”

He said, “He’s adapting, he doesn’t spend so much time upfront because he knows it’s harder, so he drops a little more.  He shows why he’s so intelligent. He adapts his game to what the team needs in every game.” Garcia then further added, “I could see him playing in 2025, easily!”
