As previously rumored, after its official announcement earlier this year of the upcoming kart racing video game named Team Sonic Racing that there might be a delay in its release as of originally planned for “Winter 2018”. And it seems like rumors are true. On Thursday, Sega on their official Twitter account for Sonic the Hedgehog video game franchise tweeted that they’re delaying the game and plans to launch it on May 21, 2019.

Sega explained the reason for the delay in the tweet saying “To make Team Sonic Racing the best game it can be, we’re giving the team extra time to work on it.”

Also on Friday, the official Japanese Twitter account for the 20th anniversary of the franchise posted a tweet which reveals the exact release date for North America and Europe, but yet to reveal the release date for Japan which they’ll as soon as possible.

Team Sonic Racing is an upcoming kart racing video game and a spinoff to Sega’s Sonic the Hedgehog series. Taking control of one of fifteen characters from the series’ cast, players compete in races using sports cars.
