Filipino boy shielded mother cat from raging typhoon as it gave birth

February 15, 2019 by Syed Qasim

The raging typhoon Egay saw heavy downpour and strong wind at the Manila Bay but one young boy remained unmoved despite being soaked to the skin.

As he stood next to a breakwater, the boy who wore a blue tank top and yellow shorts held a plastic cover over a mother cat who was giving birth on the concrete barrier, making sure that she was covered from the rain.

According to journalist Linus Escandor, the touching scene was shot in the middle of heavy rain as typhoon Egay roared through the Philippine capital in 2015.

Seasonal change at Manila Bay often comes with a typhoon but the young boy seemed to do not care much about his safety and well-being when he spotted the mother cat going into labor.

The boy whose name was unknown fiercely shielded the mother cat with a plastic cover as she gave birth to her kittens while he himself was heavily soaked in the rain.

Even in the middle of a typhoon, the young boy went out of his way to protect the stray cat and her kittens from the rain.

The stray cat and her kitten were later rescued by local animal welfare.

He showed a very simple act of kindness but his concern and compassion may have helped the mother cat to survive through the typhoon.

With such courage and kindness, this young boy has helped restore many people’s faith in humanity.
